Meet the Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors come from throughout Placer County and with diverse backgrounds; from education to alternative energy to professional services and much more. The most important thing they share in common is appreciation for our environment and the realization that a healthy world means the world to us.

Chairperson
Robert Garrison

Appointment Date: September 25, 2006
Term Expires: October 2009

Affiliations: Watchable Wildlife Inc.-Board Member, CA Roundtable for Recreation Parks & Tourism, Outdoor Writer’s Association of CA, and Sierra Business Council.
Bob owns “Nature Tourism Planning” in Newcastle, Ca. Previously he was an employee of the Ca. Dept. of Fish and Game where he was recognized for his skills in strategic planning, writing, & administration. His understanding of environment, ecology, and education are an invaluable asset to the board.

Vice Chairperson
Joanie Mooneyham

Appointment Date: June 26, 2006
Term Expires: October 2009

Affiliations: Auburn Symphony League and various Real Estate organizations.
Joanie brings to the board her super positive attitude and willingness to work to help the center grow. Her special skill is raising community awareness about the vital role PNC plays in environmental education for children. She loves gardening, music, and sailing, and was formerly a successful realtor in the bay area. She is also a member of the Auburn Symphony League.

Secretary
Ann Danielson

Appointment Date: May 2007
Term Expires: May 2010

Affiliations: Volunteer Ambassador for the Auburn Chamber of Commerce.
Anne brings her knowledge of Training & Development in the financial sector to the board. Ann enjoys running, hiking and visiting the American River Canyon.

Treasurer
Joyce Munn

Appointment Date: February 25, 2008
Term Expires: December 2011

Joyce lives in Meadow Vista and is a graduate of Stanford. Before retirement, she was a CPA specializing in tax law. She has been treasurer for other organizations in the past. Her interests include gardening, reading, tennis & sewing. She donates her time to Placer Nature Center because she considers the Center to be a valuable source of information about the natural environment of our area.

Keith Smith
Appointment Date: October 25, 2004
Term expires: October 2009
Affiliations:
Bromeliad Society International, Sacramento Bromeliad & Carnivorous Plant Society, and Placer Arts Autumn Artists Studio Tour.
Keith served for 2 ½ years as Sustainability Program Manager for the CA Environmental Protection Agency. Previously, he was Chief Deputy Director for the CA Integrated Waste Management Board and Chief of Field Operations for the California Department of Consumer Affairs.

Robert Ferber
Appointment Date: September 25, 2006
Term Expires: October 2009
Affiliations:
Auburn Presbyterian Church, Auburn Aviation Association, Senior Life Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Saddleback Homeowners’ Association-President, and Leadership Auburn program for 2007.
Dr. Ferber was formerly a manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His background and contacts with academia, government, & non-profits bring a needed skill set to the Board.

Renee Regacho-Anaclerio
Appointment Date: June 24, 2008
Term Expires: December 31, 2012
Affiliations:
Gathering Inn Board Member, National Staff Development Council, and Association of California School Administrators. Renee is the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services at the Placer County Office of Education.
Renee works in collaboration with Placer County school districts to support teacher professional development and increase overall student achievement. Her knowledge of educational systems, experience on a variety of non-profit boards of directors, and her commitment to increasing environmental education make her a valuable addition to the board.

Steve Davis
Appointment Date: January 26, 2009
Term Expires: December 31, 2012
Affiliations:
Sierra Club.
Steve is a long time hiker of the Sierra Nevada and a former science teacher in a Northern California junior high school and a high school in Nevada. Steve formerly owned a solar heating/energy conservation business in Bishop, Ca called The Energy Source. He has conducted workshops on Simple Living and is active in resource conservation.

John Bowman
Appointment Date: January 26, 2009
Term Expires: December 31, 2012
Affiliations:
Sierra Foothills Unitarian Universalist Church, Green Roseville Ambassador, and Roseville Arts.
John is a retired journalist and marketing director for small universities. He continues writing and is co-editor (with his wife, Val) of Silver Express, a monthly magazine for older adults in Marin County.

Val Bowman
Appointment Date: January 26, 2009
Term Expires: December 31, 2012
Affiliations:
Sierra Foothills Unitarian Universalist Church, Threshold Choir, Green Roseville Ambassador, and Roseville Arts.
Val is a retired journalist and fundraiser. She currently owns Space For Grace, a home organizing business, writes and is co-editor (with her husband, John) of Silver Express, a monthly magazine for older adults in Marin County.
