Scholarship Summer Camp General Information

R.E.I. is sponsoring a special summer camp session just for foster kids, kids in kinship families and receiving homes at Nature crafts at summer campPlacer Nature Center! If you are not sure whether you qualify - give us a call! The nature day camp gives children the opportunity to experience, discover and explore the great outdoors! The week-long session focuses on a nature-related theme and meets California Content Standards in science education.

The camp incorporates art, physical activity, structured and unstructured play, writing, reading, and theme related science experiments - they won't realize they are learning while having so much fun!

A Jr. Naturalist leads a camper through a watershed activity.Campers take part in nature crafts, games, puppet shows, plant & animal investigations, trail hikes, songs and more, all under the guidance of Trained Docents and Jr. Naturalists. Friendships are formed with peers and with our trained and very caring teen Jr. Naturalists - many are former campers themselves!

The R.E.I. funded camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and is open to children between 6 and 12 years old.

Wings Sample Camp Activities: pinecone birds, bird calls, make a bird nest, bird restaurant, bird songs & more.

What they will learn: Natural camouflage, beaks, feet, feathers & why they look the way they do, migration, bird behavior & more.
