Communications Coordinator
Be the voice of Placer Nature Center!
If you are organized, a good writer/communicator and can dedicate 3-5 hours each week (or produce on average 5 pieces per month) - the Communications Coordinator position would be perfect to get experience and prove your expertise in communications, marketing and public relations. This is a volunteer position.
What this opportunity entails:
Get professional, real-world experience working with the media, online communications and public relations.
You will produce and edit:
- Press Releases
- Public Service Announcements
- Blogs
- Calendar Posts & short Event Blurbs
* Depending on your abilities, work ethic, and desire - this opportunity could have the flexibility to tackle more areas of the overall communications needed for adequately marketing services.
Place of work:
- you can work both at Placer Nature Center to use our computers, phones, or
- work from home, checking in by phone/email (necessary to have phone, computer and internet)
Key skills/Personal qualities for success:
- Communication Skills: Great writing ability, proof reading aptitude. Enjoy writing!
- Sensitivity: awareness and sensitivity to people of all cultures, abilities, orientations, ages and genders.
- Leadership: be a self-starter, maintain a schedule, no procrastination, good time management, strong work ethic.
- Computer Skills: able to access Google Docs and Gmail.
- Self-motivation: ability to plan and stick to a schedule, media is time sensitive.
Great experience for the following majors:
Marketing, business adminstration, communications, public realtions, jounalism, english, natural resources, or environmental sciences would find this experience an excellent opportunity to utilize their skills however these majors are not required.
