Wild Things Sewing Circle

Share |

Do you love to Sew?
have a creative streak?
Or maybe you are a Gifted Thrift Store Shopper!

Placer Nature Center is looking for volunteers to help create some fun nature-inspired costumes for kids! Together, we will create a Wild Things Costume Box for children to dress up as some of their favorite local wild things. These costumes will include local wildlife, native plants, trees and fungi too!

Whether you just have some material to donate, want to help design, sew or help in any way - you are more than welcome to join us in the sewing circle!

Goals of the Project

Autumn and Volet dressed up as a fox and a skunk.Placer Nature Center's mission is to connect people with nature. Through teaching about local wildlife and plants, kids learn the importance of stewardship and conservation. Make-believe play is a wonderful way for children to learn and interact socially.

Children will be allowed unstructured outdoor play with these costumes in designated safe play areas at the nature center. Step two of the project will create child-friendly interpretative signage about animal habitats, how they move, what they eat and how they walk and move. The rest will be up to the kids!

Costume Uses

These costumes will be used in multiple ways:
